Colossians 3 has an interesting list that's prefaced as being related to land, though I'm not sure exactly how the list functions as a whole relative to land. Anyhow, the list maps to our 13 friends.
| Tribe | Member | Scripture |
|---|---|---|
| Judah | Immorality |
60 Colossians 3:5-7 |
| Reuben | Uncleanness | |
| Gad | Intemperate desires | |
| Asher | Evil lusts | |
| Naphtali | Covetousness | |
| Manasseh | For these are idolatry and bring wrath... | |
| Simeon | Anger |
60 Colossians 3:8 |
| Levi | Wrath | |
| Issachar | Malice | |
| Zebulun | Blasphemy, Foul conversation | |
| Joseph | Do not lie, put away old man, put on new man... |
60 Colossians 3:9-11 |
| Benjamin | Jew nor Aramean | |
| Dan | Messiah in all. |
The two outtakes from the list occur at Manasseh and Joseph as we've seen so many times before. This, in conjunction with the way "anger" lands on Simeon, is the proof we're dealing with a tribal list.
There does appear to be an extra item in the list between Manasseh and Joseph, but it's not clear who would get two items or why. It looks like the extra item could work for Simeon or Zebulun, but there should eventually be a definite way to solve it.
Other than the obvious map of anger to Simeon I don't have many observations for this list right now. I wrote this page just to have a record. Will come back and study more in the future when I know the tribes better.
